Change in worship times: Rippey UMC The Sunday morning worship service schedule for the Rippey United Methodist Church will be changing starting July 12 from 10:30 am to 11 am. Adult Sunday school will begin at 9:45 for the summer.

Party in the Park: Come to the “Party in the Park” at Osborn Park on Saturday, July 11, located a block south of Peoples Bank and Brubaker’s. All are invited to a free community lunch from 12 noon to 1 pm. The Rippey Lions Club and others worked on improvements at the park for people of all ages to enjoy.

Reception for Richard and Katy Liebich: Rick and Mary Liebich joined family and friends in Belle Plaine for a wedding reception for Richard and Katy Liebich. Richard and Katy were married in Texas early in June and traveled to Belle Plaine to celebrate there.

Family visits: Sharon McBlain, Hamden, CT, Is visiting with her sister and husband, Nancy and Dale Hanaman. They traveled to Urbandale to celebrate their brother John Bardole’s birthday at the home of Shelley and Randy Prati. His children were all able to come for the weekend: Scott Barole, Granger, Shelley Prati, Kirk Bardole, Miami Beach, FL; Kreg Bardole, Puyallup, WA; Alex Bardole, Decatur, GA, and Sydney Bardole, Portland, OR. Other family and friends were present for the day. The Urbandale fireworks display capped off the day.

Supper guests in the Dale and Nancy Hanaman home Sunday evening were Rachel Sacco, Rippey; Sharon McBlain, Hamden, CT, and Mary and Rick Liebich, Rippey. After the meal, they cheered the U.S. womens’ national soccer team to a victory in the Women’s World Cup Championship Game.

Anniversary: Dick and Jo Bardole celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary on July 5 at the Rippey United Methodist Church. The reception was hosted by their children Erin (Owen) Englin of Rockwell City, Shannon Bardole of Ames, and Andrew (Jacki) Bardole of Corning, and grandchildren Nic, Geoff, Ben and Emma Englin and Brady and Ava Bardole. More than 100 friends and family joined in the celebration. The Englin boys formed a brass quartet for the occasion. The children and grandchildren handcrafted a quilt and scrapbook for their parents to commemorate the occasion. Their wedding album, unity candle, dress, and suit were on display.
